DISCOVERING GOD; IS IT A FINAL DESTINATION?

As we engage with Part 1 of this blog, numerous reflections may arise, particularly concerning the pursuit of God and the concept of truly finding Him. One pressing question that may enter our minds is, “Is discovering God a conclusive endpoint or merely a destination along a journey?”

Chris Delvan, a distinguished songwriter and pastor, insightfully remarked, “Zion is both a destination and a journey.”

In the Gospel of Matthew, specifically Matthew 13:56, we find an enlightening passage wherein Jesus elaborates to the multitude and His disciples about the nature of the kingdom. He presents various parables to illustrate His points:

– A farmer who cultivates wheat while an enemy sows weeds among it.

– A mustard seed, despite its diminutive size, evolves into the largest of plants, providing a nesting place for birds.

– Yeast, although minimal in quantity, permeates an entire batch of dough.

– Hidden treasure: a man who discovers it sells all he possesses to acquire it.

Each of these narratives emphasizes themes such as growth, perseverance, diligent searching, sacrifice, surrender, and maturity—concepts we have already examined in Part One of this blog.

In verse 52, Jesus states:

Matthew 13:52 NIV

[52] “Therefore, every teacher of the law who has become a disciple in the kingdom of heaven is like the owner of a house who brings out of his storeroom new treasures as well as old.”

This implies that every individual who has uncovered this kingdom (representative of God) possesses something profound… Glory! They draw from their storeroom treasures—both new and old. Through sacrifice, perseverance, and even trials (not necessarily of a physical nature), some individuals arrive at this sacred place (Zion), becoming stewards of God’s glory and presence.

James 1:3-4 NIV states:

[3] “because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.”

[4] “Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”

Furthermore, the scripture in Matthew 13:52 reiterates:

“They bring out of their storeroom new treasures as well as old.”

From this realm of discovering God, our assignments, ministries, and relationships with God transcend mere earthly or human reasoning, strength, or strategy; they evolve into conduits through which God manifests His expression.

This is why many believers minister with confidence and are highly regarded— they possess clarity regarding their operational foundation.

In 1 Samuel 12:3 NIV, it states:

[3] “Here I stand. Testify against me in the presence of the Lord and His anointed. Whose ox have I taken? Whose donkey have I taken? Whom have I cheated? Whom have I oppressed? From whose hand have I accepted a bribe to make me shut my eyes? If I have done any of these things, I will make it right.”

These individuals chose to pursue God instead of adopting a superficial form of Christianity, prioritizing the Word of God over debates, sacrifice over convenience, and the Spirit over the flesh.

Have we truly discovered God for ourselves? What is the nature of our relationship with Him? How steadfast are we in defending the faith we espouse?

I encourage all to seek a deeper connection with God rather than merely pursuing human validation. Let us be willing to journey further.

Have you embarked on this journey by accepting Christ as your personal Lord and Savior? Have you surrendered your life to Him?

A true overcomer possesses far greater strength than one who feigns. Christ came to offer His life as a sacrifice for your sins and, more significantly, was resurrected for your justification. No sin is beyond the redemptive power of Christ’s blood.

It would be a privilege to guide you towards Christ. Please join me in this prayer:

Lord Jesus, I acknowledge my sinfulness. I believe that You came and died for me on the cross of Calvary. I accept the blood of the new covenant that was shed for me. I invite You to enter my life as my Lord and personal Savior, forgive me of all my sins, and restore me to wholeness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

*Welcome to the journey! I pray that the Holy Spirit will lead you into all truth and guide you to fulfill the purpose for your life, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Prayer: Father, grant us a generation that is pure and holy; a generation that seeks Your face beyond mere signs and wonders. Bolster our inner strength beyond our decisions, and thwart every scheme of the enemy intending to lead us astray, in Jesus’ name. Amen.*
